Chorus Concert Season Art
For the first season back after the pandemic, The Women’s Chorus of Dallas wanted to really shake things up and requested art for the season in an edgy collage style. This was not an art direction I normally went with for them, so it was a big challenge all the way around! We started with RISE as the overall theme from a song we have sung many many times based on the Maya Angelou poem “Still I Rise” to reflect overcoming the many challenges the year out had presented.
Logo
To help bring all the season art together, I created a logo for the season using an open mouth, which represented speaking out and speaking up. The logo was used across art for all the concerts that year.
Art
Each piece incorporated cutouts depicting various emotions and themes for the concert. Words in the background came from songs on the concert set list and each piece got the same type and texture treatment.
Colors
The main season art used a riot of colors, but then each concert got a limited two-color range to distinguish each event.
Season Art
The art for the season pulled in pieces I planned to used in each concert’s art, along with other graphics and elements. This piece set the standard and tone with the background, texture and lines used in all the artwork. Shown here are the Instagram, Facebook, ticket outlet and email signature art.
Holiday Concert
Holiday time so the color choices were the obvious red and green. The images included generically holiday objects like candles and gifts and words from the song set. Shown here is the Instagram, Facebook and email signature art.
Voices of Women
The annual concert celebrating women composers, poets and writers. The art again pulled from the concert set, using blue and orange colors this time. Shown here is the Instagram, Facebook, library poster and email signature art.
Suffrage CantaTa
This special event celebrated the 100th anniversary of women’s right to vote in the US. This was my favorite as I got to pull in newspaper articles and photos gathered from the Library of Congress and other sources. The purple and yellow were the colors of the national movement.
Season Shirt
I also made a shirt using the season logo, which required changing out some of the color and art so it would print well on fabric.
